When you are planning your response, there are a few critical factors to consider:
– Identification of your Required
– Identification of issues within each required
– Ranking of issues
– Time allocation and finally
– Time management
If you miss the ID of a required or an issue within the required, then no matter how well you manage your time, you will miss marks and possibly be held back to an NC or NA. Depending on which you missed.
It is also essential to rank your issues and begin with the most critical to your client/case. If you miss major issues within a required, this can be a reason for the marker to hold you back from a Competent. Ranking will allow you to pick and choose and discuss the major issues before you address the minor ones.
Most candidates don’t do well on the CFE due to poor management of time. It is key to understand that time management is critical to your success. If you don’t stick to your time allocation, then you may not have sufficient time to address a major/primary required/issue. This could hold you back on depth or breadth.
When you prepare a planning/outline sheet, make sure you stick to it!
